The Women of Quail Creek October luncheon – It’s a fiesta!

JoAnn Haberer

¡Olé! On Monday, October 29, the Women of Quail Creek will host a Mexican fiesta for members featuring a south-of-the-border luncheon menu and the rousing feet-tapping sounds of Mariachi Aztlan, from Pueblo High School in Tucson. Mariachi Aztlan is made up entirely of high school students ranging in age from 14 to 18 years old. The young men and women of Mariachi Aztlan must audition and, once accepted, maintain a high level of academic achievement. Their extensive practice and performance schedule demand much of their free time.

The group plays authentic mariachi music, arranged and conducted by director, John Contreras, himself a mariachi musician with over 25 years of experience. Dressed in their elaborate traje de charro outfits, the group boasts a repertoire of traditional mariachi music.

Don’t miss out on this fun social program. The bar opens at 11:00 a.m., lunch seating begins at 11:30. Reservations are $10 (members) and $25 (non-members) available from Janice Messer at [email protected].
