Taste of Tucson Culinary and Street Car Tour

Joyce Shumate

Quail Creek TRIPS committee has planned another Taste of Tucson for Thursday, October 19, and will take 20 residents on a tour of food, culture and history of Tucson.

The group will carpool to the Mercado San Agustin where the tour begins. Getting on the Tucson streetcar to travel to different restaurants to experience several culinary treats. Some of the restaurants we may visit are Pasco Kitchen & Lounge, Dutch Eatery & Refuge, La Indita, Red’s Smokehouse and Isabella’s Ice Cream.

Tours generally last three and a half hours and cover getting on and off the Tucson streetcar and some walking. Participants can expect to be standing or walking for some of the time. We will walk at a moderate pace, and you can expect three to five stops where we will sit down and enjoy a culinary experience for 15 to 20 minutes. We will also stop at selected locations to take in some of downtown Tucson’s most historic sights. A variety of cuisines will be served with an emphasis on local, sustainable and farm-to-table ingredients. Transportation on the modern streetcar will also be included.
