Semper Fi Club News!

Robert Lewis

Throughout the COVID pandemic, the QC Semper Fi Club (QCSFC) has continued conducting business as allowed by COVID rules.

An association of Marines and friends of the Corps, the QCSFC has focused on two important events. First, our annual golf tournament, and second, celebrating the Marine Corps’ birthday.

Our annual golf event provides opportunity and focus on raising donations for the Semper Fi and America’s Fund. The fund is a 501(c)(3) and is rated one of America’s best charities. They are dedicated to providing urgently needed resources and support for combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families. Originally the Semper Fi Fund was started in 2004 for Marine and Navy veterans and shortly after, combined with the America’s Fund (supported Airforce and Army veterans) to become the Semper Fi and America’s Fund. Since its inception, the fund has generated more than $250,000, touting a 94 cents on the dollar to our veterans.

The QCSFC 2020 golf event raised $500 in the middle of the COVID outbreak. The 2021 golf event, scheduled for Aug. 23, has already surpassed $8,600 in donations. This is definitely a result of your club’s officers’ encouragement and charitable contributions by many Marines and friends. This is truly a remarkable achievement and reflects the dedication of Marines to take care of their own!

Although the 2020 Marine Corps birthday celebration was cancelled, the 2021 event is in full motion. The celebration will be conducted on Nov. 10, in the Madera Clubhouse, Silver Room. Information can be found and reservations made through QCSFC website at qcsemperfi.wildapricot.org/events or by contacting Phil Perzan, [email protected] or 520-495-4522. The guest speaker and honored guest will be advertised on the website when attendance is confirmed. The Sahuarita High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps will provide the Color Guard for the celebration. The event will be limited to 70 guests. Emails will be sent to all current members with registration information when available.

We salute all members, all friends of the Corps, and generous donors for their continued support of the QCSFC, its goal, and mission.
