Scholarships awarded to three JROTC cadets

As the finale for its spring season of activities, the Green Valley Chapter Military Officers Association awarded $1500 scholarships to three outstanding young women during a celebratory dinner at Quail Creek.
LCDR Cadet Alicen Barney, a member of the Naval JROTC at Sahuarita High School, will be majoring in Criminal Justice at Northern Arizona University.
Briana Cuevas, a Cadet Major in the AFJROTC program at Nogales High School, will begin her studies at Pima Community College and then transfer to the University of Arizona where she also will major in Criminal Justice.
LTC Cadet Meriel Yanez, a member of the Army JROTC at Rio Rico High School for the past four years, will be majoring in Psychology at Northern Arizona University and later hopes to work in behavioral health with special needs students.
