Relay For Life Team Joined Top Performer Teams to Raise $51,000 for Cancer Research

Ginny Hutcheson

Thank you, Quail Creek residents, for again supporting the Quail Creek Fights Back Relay for Life team’s efforts to help fund cancer research. The team joined 17 other American Cancer Society top performer relay teams in the Saturday Night at the Super Bowl fundraiser to benefit cancer research all across America. In five weeks, the 18 teams raised over $51,000 for the American Cancer Society. The Quail Creek team sold $25 tickets for a drawing of 21 prizes valued over $100 each. Out of 2,500 tickets sold, team member and cancer survivor Carol Shelton won the most valuable prize of all.

To help the local 2021 team reach their $20,000 fundraising goal for the American Cancer Society, the team is selling beautiful and fun Circle of Hope bracelets. Each bracelet is designed individually with crystals or gems, pearls, stones, cancer ribbon charms, and spacers on memory wire. These bracelets are comfortable to wear, easy to slip on and off, and come in birthstone and cancer ribbon colors. The bracelet prices range from $17 to $95. Please consider helping raise dollars for cancer research and purchase bracelets as a gift, or in honor or memory of someone who has been touched by cancer.

The team is also selling luminaria bags (suggested price $5 each) in honor and memory of those touched by cancer. The bags can be decorated with a special name that represents someone who is a cancer survivor or who lost their battle with cancer. On April 10, the Green Valley/Sahuarita Relay For Life teams will display hundreds of lit luminaria bags and walk, or drive, by the bags, remembering those whose names are depicted on the bags. This ceremony is a very memorable event and a special time to remember how cancer has touched the lives of our friends and family members. Please help the team line the path with hundreds of lit luminaria bags.
