Quail Creek Lady Niners present junior tournament

On May 12, 36 middle school students from Continental School, grades six through eight, joined the Lady Niners for its sixth annual Junior Tournament. Christi Tucker has chaired this event each year with great success. Coach Steve Lathen from the school’s athletic department prepares his students each year, but only 18 boys and 18 girls make the final cut in order to play in our tournament.

The Lady Niners also volunteer at the school and also at Tortuga, coaching the students on their golf strokes. Since we don’t have much interaction with youngsters during our normal life here at Quail Creek this event is special for all of us; and the students must achieve high marks to qualify.

Trophies for the top four winning teams were awarded at our luncheon.

Thanks go to those involved in planning this year’s event: Head Pro Joel Jaress, Cathy Thiele for goody bags, Althea Critchlow for staging, Cheri Sipe and Sharon Paxson for decorations and of course, a big thank you to Christi Tucker and all of the Lady Niners for making this event a total success!
