The Green Valley Firefighters Association and Quail Creek Community are sponsoring their fifth annual Chili Cook Off competition to raise funds for local families in need.
The fundraiser will be held at Quail Creek on Friday, September 27, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fire and police organizations from Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tucson, Rio Rico and Tubac are expected to compete. Music will be provided by Vanishing Breed and commemorative beer mugs will be sold. Tickets are $10.00 each. They can be purchased in advance at the concierge desk or at the door. One ticket provides the holder with the opportunity to taste 12 samples of chili.
A panel of judges made up of local dignitaries will rate each of the homemade chilis on the following criteria: taste and flavor, consistency and texture, aftertaste and overall impression. Attendees will also take part in the judging and select a People’s Choice award for the best tasting chili and best booth.
