Quail Creek residents volunteer to “Give Something Back to Golf” at the LPGA Solheim Cup in Denver, Colorado, held August 16 to 18, 2013.

Held every two years, the Solheim Cup is named in honor of Karsten Solheim who is the founder of Karsten Manufacturing Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona, which makes PING golf equipment. In 1990, the Solheim family promoted the concept of a Match-Play International Tournament between the top professional golfers from the United States and Europe. Subsequently, the event has become the most prestigious women’s international professional golf team competition.

Quail Creek residents George and Roma Shropshear were on the Access Control Committee which checks credentials; and on Friday, August 16, from 6:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon, they were assigned to the Sponsor Entrance to check and count passengers arriving from hotels on shuttle buses at the 2013 Solheim Cup along the side of Security and Bus Dispatcher.
