In addition to their pre planned monthly educational trips, the Quail Creek Trips Committee offered a December day trip. The day began with a docent led tour of The Mini Time Machine Museum of antique and contemporary miniatures. Many of these displays were decorated with a holiday theme. In addition, there was also a special exhibit of Japanese Netsuke. These are highly collectible carved ivory accessories once used by men with Japanese kimono dress. Everyone in our 16 person group was pleasantly surprised with the uniqueness of this Tucson museum. For a midday break, many enjoyed European style crepes and pancakes at Millie’s Pancake Haus. The group then moved on to the Desert Artisans’ Gallery, owned and run by local Tucson artists as a cooperative, showing a variety of two and three dimensional arts. Our final stop at Mesquite Nursery insured new ideas for creative live holiday decor.
