Celebrating with a brunch during the dog days of August, the Lady Putters recognized those who had done exceptionally well at putting despite rather high temperatures and high humidity in July and early August. After putting on August 22, the ladies recharged themselves with a delicious cobb salad followed by a slice of scrumptious apple pie.
Following the meal, the winners for the preceding five weeks were announced. Diane Waldapfel and Joyce Walton were the only two Money Hole winners. Each received $5.
The Coveted Quail (low net score) went to Diane Gordon for a score of 32.05. Diane gets to keep the Quail to show to her friends until the next brunch. Marci Yenerich had the Low Gross Score of 35.7.
Getting the most holes-in-one was Carolyn Braun with 12. Because she was travelling in Italy, Carolyn missed the brunch so her crystal golf ball plaque will be held for her until her return. Because the Putters will take a break during overseeding, Carolyn will be able to have her award in her possession for at least six weeks.
Getting a score of 36 or below without a handicap were Betty Levato with a 35 and Judy McKinley and Frances Martin, both of whom got a 34.
Scoring 40 or under without handicap for their first time in their putting careers were Jeanette Jarmin 39, Martha Taylor 38, Carolyn Braun 38 and Barbara Hunsinger 37.
Twenty-five putters received gift cards valued at $7.50 each. These gift cards are presented at all luncheons and brunches throughout the year to those who putt a specified number of times during the period and who attend the luncheon.
