Performing Arts Guild selects spring play; auditions cast

The Performing Arts Guild of Quail Creek has approved Davey Jones’ selection of Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig as the 2014 spring play. Paul White, PAG’s President, so thoroughly enjoyed the play and saw so much potential in the script that he agreed to be the show’s director and will be assisted by Karen Doyle. This uproariously hilarious comedy features two fading stars from the 1950s played by Davey Jones and Diana Paul currently playing in two separate plays Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac. Upon hearing that Frank Capra is looking for talent for his remake of the Scarlet Pimpernel, they attempt to take advantage of this one last shot at stardom and give their matinee performance their absolute, total best. Unfortunately, there are times when they are not sure in which play they are acting. Throw in their daughter’s clueless fiancé and a mostly deaf stage manager mother and watch the mayhem unfold. The daughter is played by Sandy Boyer, her fiancé by Ray Hebert and the mother by Janis Ferraro. Add to that the stage manager played by Jeff Webster, their lawyer played by Steve Otrosa and another actress played by Dodie Prescott, and you have the makings of a knockabout farce that is sheer comic genius.

If you enjoyed last year’s Cash on Delivery, I guarantee you will enjoy Moon Over Buffalo as much if not more, so mark your calendars for April 24, 25 and 26. To create a more relaxed environment and to allow the audience to be totally immersed in this madcap comedy, cabaret seating will be employed. Watch What’s Happening for announcements regarding ticket sale dates because you will want to make sure you have your tickets for this fantastic evening.
