New board for QCMGA in 2017

The changing of the guard at the QCMGA took place at its Annual Meeting on November 29, 2016 at the Madera Clubhouse. Election results and the new board members were announced at this luncheon meeting that was attended by over 100 members and emceed by VP Allen Mitro. A Power Point presentation prepared by Jerry Colbert detailed the major events, winners and significant activities that occurred in 2016. Membership in the club exceeds 300 members at the end of the year.

President Skip Fumia completed his two year term on the Board as did Secretary Frank Gunn, Treasurer Larry Laughman and Tournament Director Fred Doyle. Thanks to these men for their service to the QCMGA and to the other board members in 2016.

The new Board taking office on December 1, 2016 includes Tim Phillips as president, Mike Wonner as vice president, Tom Royer as treasurer, Randy Geurin as secretary, Dave Schutt as Handicap chair, Roy Barnes as tournament chair, Jim Cooley as AGA rep, Ron Turner as awards chair, Allen Mitro as membership chair, Jerry Colbert as webmaster, Doug Detman as Rules chair, and Skip Fumia as past president.

The schedule of golfing events has been organized for the 2017 year by Fred Doyle and Roy Barnes. It includes 51 days of play during the year. The Men’s Club Championship has been moved to begin in late August when the golf course is in its best condition prior to overseeding. Tom Dunipace announced that the three day Member Guest tournament has been moved to April 25 through 27 in 2017.

The QCMGA Board of Directors meets every month on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings from December to February begin at 9:30 a.m. while meetings for the rest of the year begin at 1:30 p.m. and are open to all members at the Kino Conference Center.
