MOAA hosts Mix and Mingle for April – May update

The Green Valley Chapter, Military Officers Association, hosted its annual Mix and Mingle in March. The highlight of the evening was MOAA Jeopardy, starring MOAA’s very own Alex Trebec AKA QC resident Tom Contreras. The three contestants, Dick Kosnick, Lynda Linker, and QC resident Lee Cornelison were asked questions centering on desert plants, movies made in Arizona, famous Arizona females, landmarks in Arizona and of course, a few on the Chapter. Even though they were among their MOAA colleagues, the contestants appeared to have instances of stage fright when they could visualize the answer but then had a Green Valley moment.

During the event that also served as a fundraiser for the Chapter’s many projects, a variety of items were available for bidding in a silent auction. This netted $695.

The next MOAA event will be a dinner on May 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Ballroom. Scholarships will be awarded to JROTC students from the Sahuarita, Rio Rico and Nogales School districts. The Sahuarita JROTC Honor Guard will present the Colors and Quail Creek’s own Cyndy Giardia will provide the musical entertainment. Tickets are $26 and can be ordered by contacting Barbara Brown at 520-625-8066. Deadline to sign up is April 24. Membership is open to all officers and warrant officers, currently serving, retired or former. For more information, please visit their website at greenvalleymoaa.org.
