Making a difference

Once again, this summer four ladies from the QC Needlework Club participated in the annual Bags for Kids Sew-A-Thon. This event is sponsored by Aviva Children’s Services and is held at the Tucson Women’s Club. Children placed in foster homes are given cloth clothing bags in which to place their personal belongings.

Over 100 ladies from the area sewed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 to make at least 2400 bags. Aviva distributes over 5000 clothing bags to children each year.

The ladies were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Mama’s Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue. It was a fun day and it was fulfilling knowing that we could help make a difference.

The club ladies present were Gwen Mowat, Barb Poltl, Mary Cerny and Max Perzan.
