Let’s Travel: Exploring Tucson

Joyce Shumate

On Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Ocotillo and Mesquite room the Let’s Travel group will have two expert speakers on exploring Tucson.

The first speaker is from Visit Tucson. The topic is “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town,” a look at how someone in Southern Arizona can connect to the region like a tourist. You’ll learn about local attractions, Tucson’s UNESCO City of Gastronomy designation, the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, and more.

Tucson’s downtown has been the city’s hub of activity for well over a century, but in the past several years, it has seen a rebirth. New shops, bars, breweries, and some of Tucson’s hottest restaurants are proud to call downtown home.

The second speaker is Elysa Crum, a tour guide and owner of Taste of Tucson Downtown, which provides guided tours that include historical facts, local culture, and small plate tastings at downtown eateries. Her passion for food, education, and an appreciation of Tucson’s culture and history inspired her to create Taste of Tucson Downtown. With the revitalization of downtown, including an influx of new offices, housing, restaurants, and the modern streetcar, this is the perfect time to explore and learn about our city.

The Let’s Travel group meetings are open to all Quail Creek residents. For more information about the Quail Creek Let’s Travel group, contact Joyce at [email protected].
