Let’s chat Cha-cha

Here’s a fun quote from Robert Brault, “An optimist is someone who figures that taking a step backwards after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s a Cha Cha!” The Ballroom Dance Club of Quail Creek offers a place where you can show off that fancy dancing you enjoy.

We offer membership in this club to all of Quail Creek. As with every club here at Quail Creek our annual membership dues cover the cost of the activities of the club. In this case it’s four exclusive dinner dances with large bands that play ballroom style music. These bands usually play on cruise ships in the summer and tour during the winter months. In the Madera Ballroom we present a wonderful themed dinner which is preceded by an hour of dancing and then followed by a further two hours of smooth cruising. These are elegant evenings with gentlemen in tuxes or suits and ladies in cocktail to formal gowns. Flowers adorn the beautifully set tables. It is picture book perfect!

A Board of Directors headed by President Steve Huhta organizes these fine evenings. Membership Chair Justine Lewis keeps track of all reservations and seating arrangements. Food and Beverage Chair Mary Lou Johnson makes all the special dinner arrangements with Chef Aris. All band arrangements and contracts are made by Ralph Harris. Additionally, club matters are handled by Treasurer Tom Sullivan, Secretary Lenore O’Connell, Publicity and Past President Gail Phillips, Historian Nancy Moosburner and Social Chair Shelly Johnson.

Special to the Ballroom Dance Club are the lessons to help us become optimistic and these lessons are organized by Pat and Steve Otrosa. They have arranged for Cha Cha lessons in October and November of this fall.

We could not run such a wonderful series of dinner dances nor contribute to the Quail Creek Community and to nonprofits without our wonderful Business Expo which takes place in February and is run by board member Sydney Ranney. This annual event brings to Quail Creek about 90 vendors who can be of service as we keep our homes in good shape and make alterations to the basic plans. In addition we offer some 30 nonprofits a chance free of charge to set up booths to talk about their mandates in the community.

Quail Creek Ballroom Dance Club is both for our members’ entertainment and for community service. We hope you’ll join us.
