Lady Niners host silly, colorful event

Deb Maloney

“Color Me a Silly Golfer” was the theme for the Lady Niners’ annual Invitational held March 13 at all three Quail Creek Golf Courses. Joining the QC Niners in this fun event were 126 ladies from 12 visiting clubs. A fantastic turnout! Silly, colorful and very creative garb started everyone’s day with a smile. Play on the course was further enhanced by an assortment of toys: cow bells, crayons, colored string and magic rings. Oh my!

After a group picture was taken by Ken Haley, Club Pro Joel Jaress introduced the rules of the day for the four person Shamble. Also included in the course fun were the Fast Hole, mulligans and many more games. Monetary prizes were awarded to the top seven foursomes on each course. The first place foursomes were as follows:

Quail Course Winners: Diana Averill, Pat Spencer, Linda Roeller and June Newton

Coyote Course Winners: Stephanie Reynolds, Shirley Hill, Susan Stacey and Nancy Pound

Roadrunner Winners: Velvalea Roehl, Bonnie Torgerson, Cathy Stevens and Janey Seiller

After golf prizes were awarded, everyone enjoyed a Baked Potato and Salad Buffet. Very colorful desserts completed the menu. Many ladies were also lucky enough to take home one of the generous raffle prizes. These ladies will be enjoying a shopping spree or a round of golf with friends. Golf doll centerpieces went home with the most creative placemat artist at each table.

Club President Marci Yenerich gave a special thank you to the chairpersons for the event: Shirley Gray and Cheri Sipe. A big thanks also to Sharon Paxson and the many committee members and volunteers who worked to make the day special.
