“Thank you” is such a gracious phrase, yet somehow not quite eloquent enough to use in this case. There may not be a phrase in the English language to use.

On April 18, The Women of Quail Creek hosted 26 expecting military moms and their families with a very grand baby shower. Attendees were greeted at the Air National Guard mess hall by a room transformed to a Noah’s Ark themed wonderland. The moms were feted with games, raffle prizes, a luncheon and presents of overflowing tote bags and laundry baskets filled with everything a mom might need for a new baby. Moms even received gift bags strictly for themselves.

The committee started planning six months ago and the call went out to Quail Creek residents for help. And help they did! Over $2,400 was donated along with enough diapers, clothing, toys and baby essentials to make the TWOQC fourth annual baby shower the best yet. The term fantastic comes to mind, but still seems not enough to express the magnitude of generosity from the community.

Heartfelt thanks go to Quail Creek’s resident Santa Eric Caldwell for all the toys, QCVGA for the generous monetary donation, the Quilting Covey and Knitters for all the quilts, blankets, hats and booties and to all the individuals that contributed money and baby items. Thanks to Sales and the Grill for the donations of gift certificates, to the Madera Clubhouse and Anza Fitness Center for allowing the placement of collection boxes. Special thanks to Barbara Gavre from the Air National Guard for all the food and without whose help and support the shower would not have been possible.

Last, but certainly not least, thanks to all the hardworking committee members who often worked far into the night organizing, sorting, categorizing, packing, shopping and decorating. It was a heartwarming event for all involved. The military families were overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity and truly grateful and appreciative.
