On Oct. 31, the three Women’s Golf Associations of Quail Creek held their annual charity event to raise money for four local charities in Green Valley. The event was a huge success for the charities and the women participating. Attending and representing Friends in Deed were Madelline Sperry and Jan Morgan. Penny Pestle and Carlos Valtes represented The Sahaurita Food Bank, Madelaine Pascal was there for Hands of a Friend-Genesis House, and Bethany Neumann represented Youth on Their Own. Besides the over $12,000 raised by the clubs, the reps were there taking donations from all the individuals participating.

Janet Wegner reported that forty-six putters all dressed in black attacked the Putting Green full of Halloween attractions. Armed with a “Spooktacular Bundle” they raised $225 for the charities and proceeded to have fun putting through the ghouls and goblins. The committee consisted of Peggy McGee, Sharon Schoen, Cathy Thiele, and Janet Wegner.

Cheri Sipe reported the QC9LGA committee, consisting of Cheri Sipe, Sherry Gall, and Shirley Gray, arranged for a fun round of non-competitive golf. There were 16 teams of 9-hole, 18-hole and non-golfers who played a four-person scramble with four games of closest to the line and longest putts. Tricky Treat bags were sold to each team for $5 and were opened during the luncheon. All proceeds from the sale were divided between the charities.

Peg Avent headed up the event and the committee for the 18-hole club with help from her committee: Terri Bacon, Beth Davis, Sharon Scheon, Cheryl Collier, Jacquie Owens, Ronnee Epstein, and Terri Erickson. Besides selling tickets for the Split the Pot cauldron, the club also dyed the ladies’ hair with colorful sprays in the “Dying to Donate Station” and sold the “Special Bundle” which included a Pro Drive by Joel Jaress, a mulligan, and one magic putt, all proceeds going to the charities. The ladies played a four-person team scramble and the winners were: Gouls Just Want to Have Fun, Boo Crew, Northwest Golfing Ghouls, Deadheads, Witch and Not So Famous, Witch Sisters Plus Two, Broomstick Babes and Gryffindor Generous Gals. A special thank you goes out to Joel Jaress and JR Kies.

Each of the charities voted for the best team name. The winner from the 18-hole club was Witch and Not So Famous! The team consisted of Sherry Gall, Diana Soderberg, Chris England, and Francis Martin. Haunted Hookers from the 9ers consisted of Julie Daines, Stephanie Reynolds, Marilyn Finday, and Elizabeth Cypren. The Putter’s team, The Real Housewives of Transylvania was Kim France, Joan Campbell, and Diane Boisen. The golf clubs would also like to thank the photographers, Jim Burkstrand, Jeff Krueger, and Al Miller, as well as Roz and Teddy Harrison for the fantastic music!
