Ballroom Dance announces season dates

Gail Phillips

It’s always a wow when the Ballroom Dance Club announces its dates, themes, bands and dinners and this coming ninth season is a real winner. There are club memberships available and the annual membership fee has not increased from the founding of this club. That’s because the Ballroom Dance Club hosts a Business Expo in February of each year which provides a service to the community, a donation to charity and covers additional costs. Our big bands, many returning to play our event by popular request of our members, play our events on a tour of southwestern states.

This year our four Dinner Dances held in the Crystal Ballroom at Madera Clubhouse are as follows:

Wednesday, December, 18, 2013, celebrate the Christmas season dancing to the Tom Patrick Band with a dinner which takes place in our version of the 647 Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina. An evening at this prestigious restaurant is an opportunity to dine in an exclusive, elegant and sophisticated environment where the music and the gastronomy show off.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014, we dance to the Lonny Lynn Orchestra as we experience the very best in hospitality and cuisine at the Blue Elephant Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, all by coming to the Madera Ballroom.

Wednesday, February 12, 2014, is a perfect time to celebrate the Valentine season by dancing to the Jan Garber Orchestra and enjoying the ambiance of a famously historic city and restaurant. Our meal is adapted from a high quality Greek and International menu served in the Dionysos Restaurant in Athens, Greece, situated in the shadow of the Acropolis.

Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in the Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana, is the Commander’s Palace and we will be dining on our version of the historic menu that has served gourmet dinners for over a century. Our orchestra for this last event of the season is the terrific Myron Summerfeld Orchestra.

This season has been planned by Ballroom Dance Club Food and Beverage Chair Mary Lou Johnson and Music Chair Ralph Harris. Arranging the décor for the evenings is Shelly Johnson.
